5월 IT수출, 사상최대 기록
Information-technology-related exports reached a monthly record high of $6.53 billion in May, a 60.7 percent jump over the same period last year, driven by rising semiconductor prices and mobile-phone sales.
According to figures released from the Ministry of Information and Communication yesterday, IT imports amounted to $3.35 billion, a 26.8 percent increase form last year`s numbers, resulting in a trade surplus of $3.18 billion.
The $6.53 billion in exports is a slight increase from the previous record of $6.3 billion seen in March.
Overseas sales of semiconductors rose 67 percent from last year`s numbers at $2.38 billion, accounting for more than 36 percent of the month`s shipments.
Exports to the United States were $1.47 billion and rose 84.7 percent from last year`s numbers. Shipments to China rose 58 percent at $1.78 billion.
Exports of dynamic random access memory devices increased 116 percent from last year at $920 million, while sales of flash memory chipsets increased 210 percent to $270 million.
Mobile-phone exports were $1.91 billion, increasing 96 percent from the same period last year, thanks to the widening use of CDMA2000, GPRS and other advanced telephony services in North America and Europe.
Handsets sales in the United States reached $780 million to mark a 157 percent increase from last year`s numbers. Sales to European countries and China amounted to $400 million and $320 million, respectively.
"The economies of the major IT markets of the United States, Europe and Japan are showing good signs. And China`s economy is expected to expand 9.2 percent this year despite the government`s intentions of slowing down growth," said a ministry official.
"The possible rise of interest rates in the United States and the rising crude oil prices are considered as the cautionary factors," he added.
May exports of digital televisions rose 85.9 percent from a year earlier to $130 million, with greater demand in the U.S. and Europe. Overseas sales of personal computers and monitors were $48 million and $733 million, respectively.

5월의 정보기술 관련 수출이 반도체 가격 상승과 휴대용 전화기 판매 호조로 65억 3000만불에 달해 지난 해 같은 기간에 비해 60.7퍼센트가 증가하면서 월간 수출로는 사상최대를 기록했다.
어제 정보통신부가 발표한 자료에 의하면 IT 수입은 33억 5000만불로 지난 해보다 26.8퍼센트가 늘어나 31억 8000만불의 무역흑자를 기록했다고 한다.
65억 3000만불이라는 수출은 3월에 기록했던 63억불 기록을 소폭 능가한 것이다.
반도체 수출은 23억 8000만불로 지난 해보다 67퍼센트가 증가해 이 달 수출의 36퍼센트를 차지했다.
미국으로의 수출은 14억 7000만불로 지난 해보다 84.7퍼센트가 늘어났다. 중국 수출은 58퍼센트가 늘어난 17억 8000만불이었다.
Dram 반도체의 수출은 지난 해보다 116퍼센트가 늘어난 9억 2000만불이었고 플래시 메모리의 수출은 210퍼센트가 늘어난 2억 7000만불이었다.
휴대전화기 수출은 북미와 유럽에서의 CDMA2000과 GPR 그리고 기타 첨단 전화서어비스의 확대에 힘입어 19억 1000만불로 지난 해 같은 기간에 비해 96퍼센트가 증가했다.
미국에서의 단말기 판매는 7억 8000만불로 지난 해보다 157퍼센트가 증가했다. 유럽과 중국으로의 수출은 각각 4억불과 3억 2000만불이었다.
"미국, 유럽, 일본 등 주요 IT시장이 좋은 조짐을 보이고 있다. 그리고 중국경제가 정부의 긴축 의도에 불구하고 올해 9.2퍼센트 성장이 예상되고 있다"고 정통부의 한 관리가 말했다.
"미국의 이자율 인상 가능성과 유가 상승이 유의해야 할 사항으로 보여진다"고 그는 덧붙였다.
디지털 텔레비전의 5월 수출은 미국과 유럽의 수요 증가로 1년 전보다 85.9퍼센트가 늘어난 1억 3000만불이었다. 개인용 컴퓨터와 모니터의 수출은 각각 4,800만불과 7억 3300만불이었다.
